Denise Longshaw President | Founder | Investment Adviser Representative
Denise Longshaw understands that retirement is more than just numbers. It is one of life’s biggest transitions. For many people, it comes with important questions, uncertainty, and concerns about making the right financial decisions.
Questions like:
- Will I have enough income to retire comfortably?
- When should I take Social Security?
- What happens to my pension or DROP account?
- How do I avoid costly mistakes that could impact my future?
With her experience, Denise has helped individuals and families better understand these important financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
As Founder and President of Longshaw Financial Group, Denise focuses on retirement planning, with particular experience helping Florida public sector employees, including Florida Retirement System (FRS) members and DROP participants, better understand their retirement options and navigate the transition from employment into retirement. She also works with individuals and families seeking thoughtful retirement strategies designed to help protect what they have worked hard to build and prepare for the next chapter of life with greater confidence.
Denise is known for her ability to take complex financial topics and explain them in a way that feels simple, understandable, and practical. She believes financial planning should never feel intimidating or overwhelming. Instead, it should help leave people feeling informed, empowered, and more confident about their future.
Denise takes a highly personalized approach to planning. She understands there is no 'one-size-fits-all' retirement strategy because every individual and family has different goals, concerns, income needs, and dreams for retirement. Rather than offering cookie-cutter recommendations, Denise takes time to listen, educate, and help clients evaluate strategies centered around what matters most to them.
Before founding Longshaw Financial Group, Denise spent five years working in Benefits and Retirement at Florida Atlantic University, a Florida public university, where she gained firsthand experience helping employees understand workplace benefits, retirement plans, and the important financial decisions that come with preparing for retirement. This experience provided valuable insight into the unique concerns many employees face when transitioning from their working years into retirement and remains one of the foundations of her retirement planning approach today.
Denise brings both practical experience and educational depth to her work. She holds a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting. This strengthened her ability to help clients think through important financial decisions from both a practical and long-term perspective.
Her areas of focus include retirement income planning, helping clients understand FRS and DROP options, insurance and investment strategies, Social Security considerations, and discussing tax-efficient concepts that may support overall retirement goals. While Denise does not provide tax or legal advice, she believes it is important to help clients understand how taxes may affect retirement income and often encourages collaboration with qualified tax and legal professionals when appropriate.
Denise believes financial guidance should be personal, educational, and rooted in genuine care because the decisions people make today can impact the quality of their retirement for years to come. More than anything, she wants clients to feel informed and comfortable in the decisions they make. She understands that retirement planning is not simply about money. It is about protecting a lifestyle, preserving independence, caring for loved ones, and creating greater confidence about the future.
Whether you are approaching retirement, preparing for DROP, or simply seeking a second opinion on your financial strategy, Denise welcomes the opportunity to help you better understand your options and approach important financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
