Meet Denise Longshaw

Denise Longshaw is the president and founder of Longshaw Financial Group. Denise focuses on working with public sector employees. She was a public sector employee herself from 1997 to 2003 and gained in-depth knowledge and expertise while working in the benefits and retirement department at Florida Atlantic University, a State agency. Through this position, Denise discovered “the problem”: Employees were making critical decisions about their retirement without having enough information, and, as a result, sometimes they made irrevocably bad decisions. This discovery fueled her passion to work as a financial advisor and help the people she served to make better informed decisions about their financial situation as well as their retirement.

In 2003, Denise left FAU and began her career as a licensed financial advisor and Registered Representative with VALIC Financial Advisors. After a few years, Denise realized that being a captive agent limited the services and products she could offer her clients, so she went on to broaden her experience in the industry by working with companies such as Investacorp, PlanMember Securities Corp, ING Financial Advisors and BENCOR Retirement Group. Eventually, she started her own company, Longshaw Financial Group. 

“I see myself as a public sector employee's most prized advisor,” she says. “If an employee is retiring and they have not met with me, I feel there is a lot of valuable information they missed out on.”

Denise holds her life, health and annuity license in the state of Florida. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is certified as a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) through the College for Financial Planning. She is a current member and former board member of the Broward Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, a member of Kiwanis International and also the Hattie C. Dandridge Grand Guild.

Denise enjoys reading, watching TED Talks, photography and lounging on the beach. She lives in Fort Lauderdale with her son, Jonathan.
